Who is Feri Afshartoos?
Born in Iran in 1936, Feri Afshartoos always had a fascination with painting and color. She married at a young age and quickly became the mother of three girls. During this time she taught herself to paint, and painted a variety of portraits and landscapes.
After moving to the United States in 1978, she opened up an ice cream shop which left little time for her to pursue her painting. She retired from work in 2001 and rekindled her passion for art.
30 years in the making, Feri's pieces are a reflection of her personality. "I use my emotions and feelings. I paint what I like and what makes me happy." She's always happy to have the opportunity to share her paintings with other people, and has recently had exhibits in McLean, Virginia and Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Arlington, Virginia. "It was very encouraging that so many people liked my paintings, and complimented me on them. I'd love to continue to show and improve my work."
